You should now see a list of things on your iPod, from Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Audiobooks, to your playlists.Ĥ. Instead, click on the little arrow/triangle next to your iPod name (this is on the left sidebar, under "Devices"). Remember, do NOT attempt to move to the music tab and sync your music. This will enable you to move your music back and forth without iTunes wanting to clear out your iPod for a new library.ģ. On the summary page of your iPod, at the very bottom, there should be a section called "Options", and a place to check a box called "Manually manage music and videos". However, if it's from another iTunes library, you should get a pop-up warning you about the fact that syncing will clear your iPod. Most of the times, iPods are set on autosync. Not wanting to have to comb through my external hard drives to re-create my iTunes library just to update a new album, I've been looking for a way to add music to my iPod without having anything taken out against my will. I sympathise with everyone who has lost their music - I recently had a hard drive malfunction, so all the music I have is on my 120GB iPod. Ok, I think I've figured out how to move songs into the iPod without having to back it all up (who has the time when they just want to add a new album?). What I did, I just kept Itunes open with my ipod plugged in, and opened the folder where all my music was on the computer and I just dragged them all from the folder into the ipod. You can then drag those into your ipod with itunes open of course and everything should work just fine. To add files again you would have to open the folder you transferred all of your music to, and open every single folder until you see your mpeg. Now this might take awhile but after it is complete you can perform the system reset on your Ipod.
Just drag all off them out onto a separate folder you create on your desktop, and congratulations you are backing up your files. Then go to Ipod Control, then the music folder(FYI you should set your computer to see hidden folders) in this folder you should be able to see all your music files but in ipod lingo. The way I did it was to go to My Computer, then go to the Ipod drive as if it were a mass storage device. Alright already, okay not sure if this was posted but here it goes.
